Do I need a website to join Butter & Sage Market?
Nope. Your BAS shop IS your website. It's live, mobile-ready, and shareable the moment you open it. No separate hosting, no website builder, no monthly fees on top of your BAS plan.
What exactly is the 8% commission on the free plan?
When a buyer purchases from your shop, we take 8% of the sale — that's it. No monthly fee, no hidden charges. Stripe processing fees (typically 2.9% + 30¢) are separate and go directly to Stripe, not to us. Many vendors find the free plan more than covers itself for lower-volume shops.
Do I need a Stripe account?
Yes — Stripe is how payments get to you. Setting up a Stripe account is free and takes about 5 minutes. Butter & Sage Market Bea assistant walks you through the connection during your shop setup. If you already have Stripe, you just link it. Payments are secure and your sales are transferred directly to your Stripe account, meaning your money is always with you, not us.
Can I upgrade or downgrade anytime?
Absolutely. Start free, upgrade when you're ready to grow, downgrade if you need to slow down — no contracts, no guilt trips. We're your partner, not your landlord.
I'm not tech-savvy at all. Will I be able to set this up?

What types of food products can I sell?
Any cottage food or small-batch food product — baked goods, jams, preserves, honey, spices, tea blends, hot sauces, nut butters, granola, specialty snacks, and more. Butter & Sage Market is not limited to baked goods. If your state's cottage food laws allow it, BAS supports it. (Not sure what your state allows? Check our cottage food law resources.)
Do I need a business license or cottage food permit to sell on BAS?
Cottage food laws vary by state, and we've got a whole library of state-by-state guides to help you navigate them. Generally: if you can legally sell at a farmers market in your state, you can sell on BAS.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, anytime. No contracts, no cancellation fees. If you cancel a paid plan, you drop back to the Starter (free) tier at the end of your billing period — your shop stays live.
