How it Works
Three steps from your kitchen to launching your business
No storefront, no app to build, and no extra platforms to manage. Bea handles the heavy lifting — you handle the homemade. Behind the scenes you'll have all of the tools to promote, manage, and operate your business.

Step 1
Open your shop
Sign up in under two minutes. Add your story, images, branding, pickup & delivery availability, and your photos. We'll set up your storefront with your colors and an e-mail opt in form.

Step 2
List what you make
Bea helps you add your products. Bea suggests pricing, helps you write descriptions, and tags everything for local search. She'll even help you setup custom orders.

Step 3
Start selling
Share your website. Neighbors find you, place orders, and pick up at farmers markets or your porch. Track your sales, pricing, and manage custom orders all from your dashboard.

REady When You Are.
It’s free to get started
We know you'll love it here. Free to start, free to stay open. You don't pay a dime until you make your first sale.
Meet the founder
Hi! I’m Amy, and I’m so happy to meet you
I've spent 25+ years building profitable growth strategies for enterprise businesses across all industries - including Food & Beverage. I noticed that the businesses I like to buy from - small local food businesses - those making the most extraordinary, real, homemade food — had zero of the same tools those businesses have.
So I built you one.
I'm an avid baker, I love to cook, and a farmers market regular. I'm the person in your corner who actually knows how to grow a food business. Come on in - this place was built for you - and I'm thrilled to help you grow.
- Amy Larsen, Founder

Why Vendors Love It Here
A marketplace that actually fits a home kitchen.
No giant fees, no multiple platforms to juggle, no shipping nightmares. Just a clean way to sell to the people who already live near you.

Built for Homemade
Cottage-food rules, small-batch limits, pickup logistics, farmers-market days — we get it because the platform was built around it. Set your ordering system based on your business model - or combine multiple methods, change as you grow. Drops, custom orders, pickup windows - your choice.

Reach your real neighbors
Local-first discovery means orders come from people down the block, not strangers across the country shipping is a headache for.

Keep more of every sale
Low, transparent fees. Clear and easy upgrade path when you need to. No commission surprises for your customers. You set your prices, you keep what you earn, get paid directly from your Stripe account.

Meet Your Business Partner
Bea handles the parts you'd
rather not.
You didn't start baking sourdough so you could write SEO copy at 11pm. Bea is the AI helper baked into every shop — she does the marketplace homework so you can stay in the kitchen.
Sets Up Your Shop
The hardest part of launching your business is getting your website setup. Bea helps you get this done fast. She'll even write your T&Cs for you.
Writes Your Product Descriptions
Tell Bea what's in the jar; she'll write a description that sounds like you on a good day. She'll create all of the products in your shop - she'll even build any custom order forms you need.
Customer Service
Bea will help your customers from your shop! She answers questions about your business, assists with custom orders - and if she can't answer she helps your customers get in touch with you.
Fair From the Start
Keep more of every sale. Do less of every chore.
Honest, simple pricing.
No listing fees, no surprise math at month's end. Easy upgrade when your sales increase or when you want access to tools that make managing your business easier.
- 0$ to open your shop, list products, or stay open
- Upgrade when needed to flat fee
- Payout directly from your Stripe account

The marketplace does the heavy lifting.

- One place to manage your orders
- Built in customer messaging
- Allergen, batch, and pickup info live with each item
- Customer communication built in

All platforms pass standard credit card processing (Stripe or equivalent) to the vendor — this is the industry norm and not a platform distinction. HotPlate’s distinction: no monthly fee, but customers pay a ~5% + $0.55 platform surcharge on every order. On average orders under ~$18, BAS’s free plan (8% vendor commission) is a lower total cost than HotPlate’s surcharge. As sales grow, BAS’s Pro plan — flat monthly, zero commission — beats per-order pricing at any volume. Bakesy Secure Payments charges 3.9% + $0.30; vendors can also collect cash, Venmo, or Zelle directly at no fee. Market Planner, Profitability Tracking, and Revenue & Expense Tracker coming soon on Bloom plan. Competitor data current as of June 2026.

Vendors, In Their Words
From their kitchen to yours.
I used to lose orders in my DMs every Saturday. Now everything's in one place. My customers love how easy it is to order now!
Opened my shop on a Tuesday, sold everything in pre-order before Saturday. The pickup logistics alone are worth it.
I love the marketplace and farmers market listings. It makes it easier for customers to find me. The custom order feature has been a huge weight lifted!
Ask Bea Anything
The stuff vendors usually want to know.
Still curious? Bea's in the bottom-right of every page once you sign up - and a real human is always one click away.
Is this for hobbyists or actual businesses?
Both. Whether you sell two loaves a week to neighbors, your extra tomatoes from your garden, or twenty loaves and 60 jars of jam at the farmers market, Butter & Sage scales with you - same tools, same pricing, no upgrade nag.
What about cottage food laws in my state?
Cottage food rules vary by state, and we keep up so you don't have to. When you set up your shop, Bea walks through what's allowed where you live and flags anything that needs a license or extra label.
Do I need to ship?
Nope. Most vendors offer local pickup, porch drop-off, or farmers-market handoff. Shipping is optional — and we'll only suggest it if it makes sense for what you sell.
How much does it cost?
Free to open a shop. Free to list your products. On the free plan you pay 8% commission when you make a sale. Selling more than $188 a month? It's probably worth upgrading to Maker and paying a fixed price.
When do I get paid?
Every sale sends the money straight to your Stripe account. Stripe pays out based on your settings - which means money can move from your Stripe to your bank account as early as the next day. If you pay commission that money goes straight to our account - yours goes straight to yours. We never touch your cash.
Can I leave whenever?
Yes. Cancel anytime, export your customer list, and your data goes with you. We'd rather earn your loyalty every week than lock you in.
What exactly is the 8% commission on the free plan?
When a buyer purchases from your shop, we take 8% of the sale — that's it. No monthly fee, no hidden charges. Stripe processing fees (typically 2.9% + 30¢) are separate and go directly to Stripe, not to us. Many vendors find the free plan more than covers itself for lower-volume shops.
Do I need a Stripe account?
Yes — Stripe is how payments get to you. Setting up a Stripe account is free and takes about 5 minutes. Butter & Sage Market Bea assistant walks you through the connection during your shop setup. If you already have Stripe, you just link it. Payments are secure and your sales are transferred directly to your Stripe account, meaning your money is always with you, not us.
Do I need a business license or cottage food permit to sell on BAS?
Cottage food laws vary by state, and we've got a whole library of state-by-state guides to help you navigate them. Generally: if you can legally sell at a farmers market in your state, you can sell on BAS.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, anytime. No contracts, no cancellation fees. If you cancel a paid plan, you drop back to the Starter (free) tier at the end of your billing period — your shop stays live.
I'm not tech-savvy at all. Will I be able to set this up?
If you can text a friend, you can set up your shop. Seriously. We built the whole thing to work without a developer, a designer, or a YouTube tutorial marathon. And if you get stuck, we're here.

Bea's Buzz
Maker pays for itself,
Here's the math...
On the Starter plan, BAS earns 8% commission on your sales. A vendor making $188/month in BAS sales is already paying $15 in commission — exactly what Maker costs.
Upgrade to Maker and that commission goes to zero. Maker pays for itself at roughly 3–5 orders, and you get unlimited products, full Bea access, the Pricing Calculator, Label Generator, and more. At $188/month in sales, the math says: upgrade.
