New to farm shares?

How a CSA works.

Questions about local farms.

What is a CSA farm share?

You pay a farm up front for a share of its harvest, then pick up a box of fresh food every week or two through the season. The farm gets what it needs to plant; you get the freshest food there is.

How do I find a CSA near me?

Choose CSA Farms above the map, type your town or ZIP code and pick how far you’ll drive. Each farm’s page shows what it grows and how to sign up.

What is an on-farm market?

A farm stand or shop on the farm itself, where you buy straight from the people who grew it. Many sell eggs, meat, honey and baked goods alongside the produce.

What counts as a farm visit or agritourism?

Pick-your-own fields, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, farm tours, tastings and farm stays: anything that brings you onto the farm.

What is a food hub?

A business that gathers food from many local farms and sells it on to shoppers, restaurants and schools, so small farms reach more tables.

Where does this information come from?

From the USDA's Local Food Directories, refreshed as farms update their listings. Seasons change, so check with the farm before you drive out.

I run one of these farms. Can I update my listing?

Yes. Email admin@butterandsagemarket.com with your farm’s name and the changes, and we’ll update it.
