What Must Appear on Your Label

Every product sold under Delaware's cottage food law must include all of the following on its label:

  1. 1 Cottage food establishment name
  2. 2 Product name
  3. 3 Producer name, address, phone, and email
  4. 4 Net weight or unit count
  5. 5 Ingredients in descending order by weight
  6. 6 Allergen statement
  7. 7 Date of production or lot number
  8. 8 Cottage food statement

Required Cottage Food Statement

Delaware requires the following statement to appear verbatim on every label. Copy this exactly — no paraphrasing.

Required Statement
"This food is made in a Cottage Food Establishment and is NOT subject to routine Government Food Safety Inspections."

Cottage food producers are explicitly exempt from FDA mandatory nutrition labeling. You may add one voluntarily, but Delaware does not require it. Save that time for baking.
