Custom Orders

PAID PLAN FEATURE

If you sell products that require a custom order you’ll want to get to know our Custom Order category feature. We’ve built in all of the functionality for you out of the box, no configurations necessary.

Create Your Product

You’ll want to create each product that you offer for custom order individually. For example, if you offer custom cakes and also custom cookies, create a product for your Cakes and create another product for your Cookies. This helps your customers easily understand everything you have to offer!

Add all of the product details. For price you can leave it at $0 or put in a starting price. The price won’t be displayed on your store page or your product page.

Assign the Categories

You’ll want to assign both the specific category of your product (for example Baked Goods / Cookies) and then ALSO assign the category Custom Order.  The Custom Order category assignment is what automatically generates the Request for Quote form assigned to your product.

Assigning both categories ensures that your product shows up in the category pages when visitors search for specific product types. The Custom Order category ensures that the Add to Cart and Price are not visible and replaced with the Request a Quote option.

PRO TIP: Add the work Custom to the product name. This alerts the admins that your intent is to have a Custom Order form attached. They will check your product to make sure that the Custom Order category is assigned before your product is published.

View Your Product

After your product is published take a look at your product page. You’ll notice a ‘Request for Quote’ button has replaced an Add to Cart. When clicked you can view the form that the customer fills out. Run a test on the form to make sure that all of the information you need is there and that the form notifies you when submitted. Your customer also receives a copy of their request.

Fields Included in the Request for Quote Form

  1. First name
  2. Last name
  3. Email address
  4. Phone number
  5. Date needed
  6. Number of attendees or quantity
  7. Event or occasion type
  8. Theme and/or color scheme

  10. Description
  11. Packaging requirements
  12. File upload for inspiration photos

What do Do After Receiving a Request for Quote

Once you receive a request for quote we have provided the option for you to manually add an order. You’ll find this option under the Orders menu you in your dashboard. You can add all of the details about the order and send this to your customers. If they accept your terms they’ll be able to immediately make payment.

What if I Need a Different Request for Quote Form

If your business needs a different request for quote form we’ll be happy to customize one for you! Submit the support request form on your Vendor Dashboard with the details of what you need modified/removed/added and we’ll create a new version for you. It usually takes less than 1 business day and we’ll send you a new category to apply to any products you want to use your new version of the form.
