Point of Sale: Selling in Person

What This Page Does

Point of Sale is your built-in register for selling in person: farmers markets, pop-ups, a farmstand, or an order taken over the phone. It runs in your browser, so there is no app to download. Just open your dashboard on your phone.

The register is part of Maker and Bloom. Taking card payments on it is Bloom.

Ringing Up a Sale

  1. Go to Point of Sale near the top of your sidebar.
  2. Tap your products onto the sale and adjust quantities. Add a one-off item if you need to.
  3. Choose how they paid.

Sales tax and stock are handled for you: sell your last jar at the booth and it goes out of stock online straight away.

Recording How You Were Paid

On Maker and Bloom you can record any way you were paid in person, so your stock and your numbers stay right:

  • Cash, and it works out the change
  • A payment app like Venmo, Cash App or Zelle
  • A card you took some other way
  • A check, a trade or barter, or a gift with no money at all

These are records only: the money was paid to you directly, and the register writes the sale into your books.

Taking Cards on the Register (Bloom)

  • Tap or insert with a Stripe card reader paired to your own account.
  • Scan to pay — the customer pays from their own phone with Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card.

Card payments go through your own Stripe account, so connect it first in Store Settings → Payment. If the register says Stripe account not connected, that is the fix.

After the Sale

Every sale lands on your Orders page and counts in My Stats under In Person. Catching up on a market you already worked? You can date a sale up to 90 days back.
