What Must Appear on Your Label

Every product sold under Virginia's cottage food law must include all of the following on its label:

  1. 1 Producer's name and address
  2. 2 Product name
  3. 3 Ingredients in descending order
  4. 4 Net weight
  5. 5 Allergen statement
  6. 6 Cottage food statement

Required Cottage Food Statement

Virginia requires the following statement to appear verbatim on every label. Copy this exactly — no paraphrasing.

Required Statement
"Made in a home kitchen that has not been inspected by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services."
