What This Page Does
The Label Maker generates product labels that meet cottage food labeling requirements — product name, ingredient list, allergen callouts, net weight, producer name, and location — formatted and ready to print. You don’t need Canva, Photoshop, or a graphic designer.
How to Make a Label
- Go to Label Maker in your dashboard (Maker plan required).
- Select a product — if it’s linked to a recipe in Kitchen Studio, the ingredients pull in automatically.
- Verify the ingredient list and add any additional items (water, salt, etc.) if needed.
- Check the allergen callouts — the Label Maker flags common allergens (wheat, dairy, eggs, nuts, soy) based on your ingredient list.
- Enter the net weight of a finished unit.
- Choose a label size that fits your packaging.
- Preview and download your print-ready PDF.
Cottage Food Labeling Requirements
Requirements vary by state, but most require at minimum:
- Product name
- Name and address of the cottage food producer
- Ingredients in order of predominance by weight
- Net weight or volume
- Allergen statement (“Contains: wheat, dairy, eggs”)
- A cottage food disclosure statement if your state requires one
Always verify your state’s specific requirements — check the BAS cottage food law guide for your state.
