Pricing Calculator: Finding Your Right Price

What This Page Does

The Pricing Calculator takes the guesswork (and guilt) out of pricing. Enter what a batch costs to make, how many units it yields, and what margin you want — and it calculates the retail price that hits your goal. No more pricing from the gut and hoping for the best.

How to Use It

  1. Go to Pricing Calculator in your dashboard.
  2. Enter your total batch cost — ingredients, packaging, and any direct labor you want to factor in.
  3. Enter the yield — how many units one batch makes.
  4. Enter your target profit margin (or target hourly rate if labor is your primary concern).
  5. The calculator shows you the suggested retail price per unit.

What to Factor In

Most cottage food vendors undercharge because they forget to include:

  • Packaging — jars, boxes, bags, labels, ribbons
  • Market fees — booth rent, platform fees
  • Your time — shopping, prepping, baking, packaging, transport
  • Spoilage and waste — not every batch is perfect

A Note on Pricing Confidently

Customers who love handmade, local food are not shopping with you because you’re the cheapest option. They’re shopping with you because of you. Price your work to be sustainable. The Pricing Calculator won’t judge you for wanting to make a living — it’ll just show you the number.
