Where Your Profit Shows Up
Maker and Bloom. Profit & Loss is Bloom.
- Your whole business — the Profit tab in My Stats, and the Business profit card on your dashboard home.
- Each order — under the total on your Orders list, and in the Orders export.
- Each product — on your Products page, and live in the product editor as you type a price.
- Each recipe — in the Pricing Calculator, with the profit a batch and an hour on its Reports tab.
What the Numbers Mean
- Revenue — what customers paid for your products, minus refunds.
- Cost to make — ingredients and packaging, your own time at your hourly rate, and a share of what it costs to run the business.
- Business profit — revenue minus cost to make, commission and card fees. Your wage is already paid inside the cost, so this is the business’s money on top.
- Margin — business profit as a share of revenue.
Why It Can Look Off
- How much of this we can stand behind is the share of your sales that have costs set up. Products with no costs count as pure profit, which makes profit look higher than it is. Sold, but not costed yet lists them.
- If you haven’t set what you pay yourself, profit is overstated.
- A refunded order shows as a loss, because the ingredients were still used.
- Costs are locked in on the day of each sale, so changing an ingredient price later won’t rewrite the past.
Profit & Loss (Bloom)
My Stats → Profit & Loss tracks what you spend running the business next to what came in.
- Log an expense — the date, amount, what it was for, and a photo of the receipt. For mileage, enter the miles and it is worked out at your rate.
- Market wrap-ups — booth fees, other costs and miles from the Market Planner land here by themselves.
- Restocking — fill in what you paid when you press + Restock on an ingredient.
Month by month you see your sales, commission and card fees, what you spent by category, and Cash left, before paying yourself. Download for my accountant (CSV) gives you the whole statement.
Good to know — These are estimates for running your business. Check with your accountant before filing anything.
Ask Bea — On Maker and Bloom, ask Bea “how much profit did I make last month?”, “what is my most profitable product?” or “do any products need a new price?” and she looks up your own numbers.
