Cottage Food Law Labeling Requirements
Cottage Food Labeling Requirements in Indiana
Cottage food labeling requirements in Indiana — everything that must appear on your label, required cottage food statements, allergen disclosures, font size rules, and privacy options for your home address.
What Must Appear on Your Label
Every product sold under Indiana's cottage food law must include all of the following on its label:
- 1 Product name
- 2 Producer name and address
- 3 Ingredients in descending order by weight
- 4 Net weight or net volume
- 5 Processing date
- 6 Allergen statement
- 7 Cottage food statement (minimum 10-point type)
Required Cottage Food Statement
Indiana requires the following statement to appear verbatim on every label. Copy this exactly — no paraphrasing.
"This product is home produced and processed and the production area has not been inspected by Indiana Department of Health. NOT FOR RESALE."
Additional Requirements
Indiana requires a minimum font size of 10 points on cottage food labels. Make sure your type is legible — your customers are reading it in a farmers market, not a laboratory.
Nutrition Facts Panel
Cottage food producers are explicitly exempt from FDA mandatory nutrition labeling. You may add one voluntarily, but Indiana does not require it. Save that time for baking.
